Study Guide for the Week of  April 11, 2021

This Week Reading: 2 Timothy 1:1-14

Crossroads Community Group Guide:
A. Welcome: Welcome everyone especially new persons and read out loud the purpose of your group
B. Purpose: Our purpose is to spread the Kingdom of God. We do this by multiplying groups of people who care for each as God's family. We begin by inviting new people to our group and building them to be followers of Jesus. Each person here has the potential to be empowered to start and be the leader of a new group and spread God's kingdom.

C. Worship Time: Spend a few minutes singing a worship song. Here is one you may want to use The Way  (or pick your own on YouTube make sure it has the lyrics on the screen)

1. How did you do with what you wanted to apply from last week?

F. Opening Question (a simple question to introduce the main theme - called an icebreaker): What are some of the good characteristics your parents or guardians had in raising you?

G. Read Background Information: 

Timothy was a young man who Paul the Apostle became a spiritual father to. In Acts 16 verses 1-3 we see how their relationship began. As Timothy matured under Paul's mentorship, Paul entrusted Timothy with more and more responsibility. Paul left Timothy to be the pastor of the church in Ephesus which Paul had started. The books of 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy are both letters that Paul wrote to Timothy to instruct him and to encourage him in his life and ministry. It is easy to see that Paul had a strong personal relationship with and love for Timothy. from studying these verses we can extract the ingredients that it takes to become the parent that God wants us to be to our children.

Verse Outline:

     II.        I.      Ingredient One: The Base – Modeling – Verses 1-2, 5, 13  

Key Concept: You are a model to your child – the question is whether you will be a good model or a bad model

Key Verse: Philippians 4:9 As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Community Group Application: Community group members model to each other what following Jesus looks like in the real world

I.       II. Ingredient Two: The Transformer -  Prayer – verses 3-4

Key Concept: Pray persistently for the children in your life and let them know you are praying for them

Key Verse: Matthew 15:28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

Community Group Application: Community Group members dedicate time to pray for each other’s needs 

I.      III. Ingredient Three: The Growth Factor – Affirming and Challenging – verse 6-                                                                                                                               7, 14

Key Concept: Criticism kills – affirmation and challenge builds

Key Verse: Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Community Group Application: Community group members learn how to build each other up 

H. Word: Read 2 Timothy 1:1-14 - break it down into smaller portions to read. Read it in portions aloud together several times. (Goal is that everyone understand the Bible story or verses by retelling them in their own words - keep at it until everyone knows the story or verses)
1. What key (important) words do you see in these verses?
2. Tell in your own words what happens in these verses.
3. What are the details?
4. What details can you add to what others in the group have said?

I. Discuss the following general questions together (Goal is to use these general questions to guide a discussion - the leader should not speak more than 30% of the time - let the group discover what God is saying to them).
1. What new thing did you discover in the story or verses that you did not know before?
2. What did you learn about God (Father, Jesus or Holy Spirit) from the story?
3. What do you learn about people from the story?

4. What important lessons for us do you see in this story?

 
J. Commitment - Obedience - Application  (This is the key - have everyone answer this question): 
1. What in specific will you commit to apply in your life from this study? 

K. Prayer Time:                
1. Pray for an empty chair representing new people who you want to join your group. Name names of people specifically.                
2. Pray for the needs of the members of the group. It is best to divide into 2 groups one of male and the other female.
L. For Next time:                
1. Ask each person the name of a person they will invite to the group                                         for next week.

Esta semana Lectura: 2 Timoteo 1:1-14 

Guía del Grupo Comunitario de Crossroads:

A. Bienvenido: Bienvenidos a todos, especialmente a las personas nuevas y lea en voz alta el propósito de su grupo

B. Propósito: Nuestro propósito es difundir el Reino de Dios. Hacemos esto multiplicando  grupos de personas que cuidan de cada uno como familia de Dios. Comenzamos invitando  i  a nuevas personas a nuestro grupo y  construyéndolas  para que sean seguidores de Jesús. Cada persona aquí tiene el potencial de ser  empoderada  para comenzar y ser el líder de un nuevo grupo y  difundir el reino de Dios

C. Tiempo de adoración: Pasa unos minutos cantando una canción de adoración. Elegir su propio cancion en YouTube (asegúrese de que tiene la letra en la pantalla)

D. Annucios: Los anuncios miran arriba

E. Revisar
1. ¿Cómo te fue con lo que querías aplicar a partir de la semana pasada? 
2. ¿A quién invitaste al grupo para esta semana?


F. Pregunta de apertura (una pregunta simple para introducir el tema principal - llamado rompehielos): ¿Cuáles son algunas de las buenas características que tenían tus padres o tutores para criarte?

 

G. Información de antecedentes: 

Timoteo era un joven al que Pablo Apóstol se convirtió en padre espiritual. En Hechos 16 versículos 1-3 vemos cómo comenzó su relación. A medida que Timoteo maduraba bajo la tutoría de Pablo, Pablo confió a Timoteo más y más responsabilidad. Pablo dejó a Timoteo para ser el pastor de la iglesia en Éfeso que Pablo había comenzado. Los libros de 1 Timoteo y 2 Timoteo son cartas que Pablo escribió a Timoteo para instruirlo y alentarlo en su vida y ministerio. Es fácil ver que Pablo tenía una fuerte relación personal y amor por Timoteo. al estudiar estos versículos podemos extraer los ingredientes que se necesitan para llegar a ser padres que Dios quiere que seamos para nuestros hijos.

Concepto clave: Usted es un modelo para su hijo – la pregunta es si será un buen modelo o un mal modelo

Versículo clave: Filipenses 4:9 En cuanto a las cosas que han aprendido, recibido, oído y visto en mí, practiquen estas cosas y el Dios de la paz estarán con ustedes.

Aplicación del grupo comunitario: Los miembros del grupo comunitario modelan entre sí cómo se ve seguir a Jesús en el mundo real

Yo. II. Ingrediente Dos: El Transformador - Oración – versículos 3-4

Concepto clave: Oren persistentemente por los niños de su vida y hágales saber que están orando por ellos

Versículo clave: Mateo 15:28 Entonces Jesús le dijo: "¡Mujer, tenéis una gran fe! Su solicitud se concede." Y su hija fue curada en ese momento.

Solicitud de grupo comunitario: Los miembros del Grupo Comunitario dedican tiempo a orar por las necesidades de los demás

I. III. Ingrediente Tres: El factor de crecimiento – Afirmación y desafío – versículo 6- 7, 14

Concepto clave: La crítica mata : la afirmación y el desafío se construye

Versículo clave: Efesios 4:29 No dejes que ninguna charla insalubre salga de tu boca, sino sólo lo que es útil para edificar a los demás de acuerdo a sus necesidades, para que beneficie a los que escuchan.

Aplicación del grupo comunitario: Los miembros del grupo comunitario aprenden a construirse entre sí

H. Palabra: 2 Timoteo 1:1-14 Léelo en porciones en voz alta varias veces. (La meta es que todos entiendan la historia o los versículos de la Biblia contándolos con sus propias palabras - manténganse en ella hasta que todos conozcan la historia o los versículos)

1. ¿Qué palabras clave (importantes) ves en esos versículos?
2. Diga con sus propias palabras lo que sucede en estos versículos.  
3. ¿Cuáles son los detalles?
4. ¿Qué detalles puede agregar a lo que otros en el grupo han dicho?

I. Discutir las siguientes preguntas generales juntos (El objetivo es utilizar estas preguntas generales para guiar un debate - el líder no debe hablar más del 30% de las veces - deje que el grupo descubra lo que Dios les está diciendo).
1. ¿Qué cosa nueva descubriste en la historia o los versículos que no conocías antes?
2. ¿Qué aprendiste acerca de Dios (Padre, Jesús o Espíritu Santo) de la historia? 
3. ¿Qué aprendes acerca de las personas de la historia?
4. ¿Qué lecciones importantes para nosotros ven en esta historia? 

J. Compromiso - Obediencia - Aplicación (Esta es la clave - que todos respondan a esta pregunta):
1. ¿Qué en concreto se comprometerán a aplicar en su vida de este estudio?

K. Tiempo de oración:
1. Ore por una silla vacía que represente a nuevas personas a las que desea unirse a su    Grupo. Nombres de personas específicamente.
2. Orar por las necesidades de los miembros del grupo. Lo mejor es dividir en 2    uno de los hombres y la otra hembra.

L. Para la próxima vez:
1. Pregunte a cada persona el nombre de una persona a la que invitarán a la grupo para la próxima semana.
