This Week Reading: Acts 7:54 -8:1

B. Purpose: Our purpose is to spread the Kingdom of God. We do this by multiplying groups of people who care for each as God's family. We begin by inviting new people to our group and building them to be followers of Jesus. Each person here has the potential to be empowered to start and be the leader of a new group and spread God's kingdom.

F. Opening Question (a simple question to introduce the main theme - called an icebreaker): 

Have you ever felt opposition when you tell others about new life in Jesus?

G. Read Background Information: 
These verses tell us what happened to Stephen the first martyr in the church. he was killed for his faith in Jesus. Remember Stephen had been selected to be a leader of the food distribution ministry. In chapter 6:8 through chapter 8 verse one tells the story of Stephen. It would be good for you to read this background information. Basically Stephen was used by God to perform signs and wonders. because of this opposition arose against Stephen from the Jews. They had some false witnesses come forward and make false accusations against Stephen. In his defense Stephen gave the history of how God has been working with the Jewish people and how they always opposed what God was doing. he called the people stiff necked for not listening to God. Note that Stephen does the same thing Jesus did on the cross - he forgives those who are stoning him to death and commits his spirit to God. Finally note that the young man Saul who is mentioned twice is the Apostle Paul before his conversion to become a follower of Jesus.

Verse Outline 

I.      Opposition is to Be Expected in the Life of a Follower of Jesus - verse 54

Key Concept: Opposition measures of our obedience to Jesus

Key Verse: John 15:20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master. ‘If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 

Community Group Application: Gathering with other followers of Jesus in a community group gives us the strength to face opposition.

II. Opposition is used by God to Sift our Character and Faith - verses 55-57 

Key Concept: In times of opposition our focus must be fixed on Jesus

Key Verse: Luke 22:31 Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.

Community Group Application: A community group helps each other to focus on Jesus in midst of opposition 

III.   Opposition and Suffering Rightly Responded to Makes us Powerful Examples to Others - verse 58 - 8:1

 Key Concept: People hear our words and watch our response to opposition and trials

Key Verse: Acts 22:20  And when the blood of your martyr^[a] Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’ – Paul (Saul)

Community Group Application: Powerful people and powerful groups live out their faith in the face of opposition and suffering.

H. Word: Read Acts 7:54 - 8:1 - break it down into smaller portions to read. Read it in portions aloud together several times. (Goal is that everyone understand the Bible story or verses by retelling them in their own words - keep at it until everyone knows the story or verses)
1. What key (important) words do you see in these verses?
2. Tell in your own words what happens in these verses.
3. What are the details?
4. What details can you add to what others in the group have said?

I. Discuss the following general questions together (Goal is to use these general questions to guide a discussion - the leader should not speak more than 30% of the time - let the group discover what God is saying to them).
1. What new thing did you discover in the story or verses that you did not know before?
2. What did you learn about God (Father, Jesus or Holy Spirit) from the story?
3. What do you learn about people from the story?

4. What important lessons for us do you see in this story?

 
J. Commitment - Obedience - Application  (This is the key - have everyone answer this question): 
1. What in specific will you commit to apply in your life from this study? 

K. Prayer Time:                
1. Pray for an empty chair representing new people who you want to join your group. Name names of people specifically.                
2. Pray for the needs of the members of the group. It is best to divide into 2 groups one of male and the other female.
L. For Next time:                
1. Ask each person the name of a person they will invite to the group                                         for next week.

Guía del Grupo Comunitario de Crossroads:

A. Bienvenido: Bienvenidos a todos, especialmente a las personas nuevas y lea en voz alta el propósito de su grupo

B. Propósito: Nuestro propósito es difundir el Reino de Dios. Hacemos esto multiplicando  grupos de personas que cuidan de cada uno como familia de Dios. Comenzamos invitando  i  a nuevas personas a nuestro grupo y  construyéndolas  para que sean seguidores de Jesús. Cada persona aquí tiene el potencial de ser  empoderada  para comenzar y ser el líder de un nuevo grupo y  difundir el reino de Dios

C. Tiempo de adoración: Pasa unos minutos cantando una canción de adoración. Elegir su propio cancion en YouTube (asegúrese de que tiene la letra en la pantalla)

D. Annucios: Los anuncios miran arriba

E. Revisar
1. ¿Cómo te fue con lo que querías aplicar a partir de la semana pasada?

 ¿Alguna vez has sentido oposición cuando hablas a los demás acerca de la nueva vida en Jesús?

G. Información de antecedentes: 

Estos versículos nos dicen lo que le sucedió a Esteban, el primer mártir de la iglesia. fue asesinado por su fe en Jesús. Recuerde que Stephen había sido seleccionado para ser un líder del ministerio de distribución de alimentos. En el capítulo 6:8 a capítulo 8 versículo uno cuenta la historia de Esteban. Sería bueno para usted leer esta información de fondo. Básicamente, Stephen fue utilizado por Dios para realizar señales y maravillas. debido a esta oposición surgió contra Esteban de los judíos. Hicieron que algunos testigos falsos se presentaran y hicieran acusaciones falsas contra Stephen. En su defensa Esteban dio la historia de cómo Dios ha estado trabajando con el pueblo judío y cómo siempre se opusieron a lo que Dios estaba haciendo. llamó a la gente con el cuello rígido por no escuchar a Dios. Tenga en cuenta que Esteban hace lo mismo que Jesús hizo en la cruz : perdona a los que lo están apedreando hasta la muerte y compromete su espíritu a Dios. Por último, tenga en cuenta que el joven Saúl que se menciona dos veces es el apóstol Pablo antes de su conversión para convertirse en un seguidor de Jesús.

I. La oposición debe ser esperada en la vida de un seguidor de Jesús - versículo 54

Concepto clave: Medidas de oposición de nuestra obediencia a Jesús

Versículo clave: Juan 15:20 Recuerda lo que te dije: 'Un siervo no es más grande que su amo. "Si me persiguieron, también te perseguirán a ti. Si obedecieron mi enseñanza, también obedecerán la tuya. 

Aplicación del grupo comunitario: Reunirnos con otros seguidores de Jesús en un grupo comunitario nos da la fuerza para enfrentar la oposición.

 

II. La oposición es utilizada por Dios para tamizar nuestro carácter y fe - versículos 55-57

Concepto clave: En tiempos de oposición, nuestro enfoque debe ser fijo en Jesús

Versículo clave: Lucas 22:31 Simón, Simón, Satanás les ha pedido tamizar a todos ustedes como trigo.

Aplicación de grupo comunitario: Un grupo comunitario se ayuda mutuamente a centrarse en Jesús en medio de la oposición

 

III. La oposición y el sufrimiento respondieron con razón nos hace ejemplos poderosos a los demás - versículo 58 - 8:1

Concepto clave: La gente escucha nuestras palabras y observa nuestra respuesta a la oposición y las pruebas

Versículo clave: Hechos 22:20 Y cuando se deriéndoon la sangre de vuestro mártir^[a]  Esteban, me quedé allí dando mi aprobación y protegiendo la ropa de los que lo estaban matando.' – Pablo (Saúl)

Aplicación de Grupo Comunitario: Personas poderosas y grupos poderosos viven su fe frente a la oposición y el sufrimiento.

H. Palabra: Hechos 7:54 - 8:1 Léelo en porciones en voz alta varias veces. (La meta es que todos entiendan la historia o los versículos de la Biblia contándolos con sus propias palabras - manténganse en ella hasta que todos conozcan la historia o los versículos)

1. ¿Qué palabras clave (importantes) ves en esos versículos?
2. Diga con sus propias palabras lo que sucede en estos versículos.  
3. ¿Cuáles son los detalles?
4. ¿Qué detalles puede agregar a lo que otros en el grupo han dicho?

I. Discutir las siguientes preguntas generales juntos (El objetivo es utilizar estas preguntas generales para guiar un debate - el líder no debe hablar más del 30% de las veces - deje que el grupo descubra lo que Dios les está diciendo).
1. ¿Qué cosa nueva descubriste en la historia o los versículos que no conocías antes?
2. ¿Qué aprendiste acerca de Dios (Padre, Jesús o Espíritu Santo) de la historia? 
3. ¿Qué aprendes acerca de las personas de la historia?
4. ¿Qué lecciones importantes para nosotros ven en esta historia? 

J. Compromiso - Obediencia - Aplicación (Esta es la clave - que todos respondan a esta pregunta):
1. ¿Qué en concreto se comprometerán a aplicar en su vida de este estudio?

K. Tiempo de oración:
1. Ore por una silla vacía que represente a nuevas personas a las que desea unirse a su    Grupo. Nombres de personas específicamente.
2. Orar por las necesidades de los miembros del grupo. Lo mejor es dividir en 2    uno de los hombres y la otra hembra.

L. Para la próxima vez:
1. Pregunte a cada persona el nombre de una persona a la que invitarán a la grupo para la próxima semana.
