This Week Reading: Ezra 3:10-13
Sermon Notes
I. I. God has a time and purpose for everything - verse 10
Key Concept: God has a
purpose for all seasons and transitions in life
Key Verse: Luke 17:20-21
Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God does not come in such a way as to be seen. 21
No one will say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’; because the
Kingdom of God is within you.”
Community Group Application: God has a strategy for every season – Pastor Danston John
I.
II. God
Created All People to Worship Him - verse 11
Key Concept: We worship God
because of who He is and what He has done and will do
Key Verse: Psalm 106:1 Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Community Group Application: God gives us a taste of heaven when all the community groups gather together as God’s people on the Lord’s Day to worship the living Jesus Christ together
III. Transitions and Seasons in Life bring Sadness but God Promises Restoration - Verse 12-13
Key Concept: For followers of Jesus
problems are always temporary and blessing always eternal (as opposed to
non-believers whose blessing are temporary and whose problems are eternal) -
Rob Morgan
Key Verse: Haggai 2:3 ‘The glory of this
present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place, I
will grant peace,’ declares the Lord
Almighty.
Community Group Application: A community
group is a family that is with each other through all the transitions and
seasons of life
Crossroads Community Group Guide:
A. Welcome: Welcome everyone especially new persons and read out loud the purpose of your group
B. Purpose: Our purpose is to spread the Kingdom of God. We do this by multiplying groups of people who care for each as God's family. We begin by inviting new people to our group and building them to be followers of Jesus. Each person here has the potential to be empowered to start and be the leader of a new group and spread God's kingdom.
C. Worship Time: Spend a few minutes singing a worship song. Here is one you may want to use Great are You Lord (or pick your own on YouTube make sure it has the lyrics on the screen)
2. Who did you invite to the group for this week?
F. Opening Question (a simple question to introduce the main theme - called an icebreaker):
G. Read Background Information:
The book of Ezra is all about God bringing restoration to his people. The people of God had been unfaithful to God. They were worship idol, treating poor people unfairly and living immoral lives. God continually sent prophets to them to warn them to change their ways. The people did not list and God allowed the Babylonians to invade Israel. The Babylonians destroyed the temple where the people worshipped God. The people were taken captive and taken to Babylon to live. after 70 years God restored them to their land and they started to build the temple again to worship. These verses in Ezra show the people's reaction when the temple is being rebuilt. God brings restoration
H. Word: Read Ezra 3;10-13 - break it down into smaller portions to read. Read it in portions aloud together several times. (Goal is that everyone understand the Bible story or verses by retelling them in their own words - keep at it until everyone knows the story or verses)
1. What key (important) words do you see in these verses?
2. Tell in your own words what happens in these verses.
3. What are the details?
4. What details can you add to what others in the group have said?
I. Discuss the following general questions together (Goal is to use these general questions to guide a discussion - the leader should not speak more than 30% of the time - let the group discover what God is saying to them).
1. What new thing did you discover in the story or verses that you did not know before?
2. What did you learn about God (Father, Jesus or Holy Spirit) from the story?
3. What do you learn about people from the story?
J. Commitment - Obedience - Application (This is the key - have everyone answer this question):
1. What in specific will you commit to apply in your life from this study?
K. Prayer Time:
1. Pray for an empty chair representing new people who you want to join your group. Name names of people specifically.
2. Pray for the needs of the members of the group. It is best to divide into 2 groups one of male and the other female.
L. For Next time:
1. Ask each person the name of a person they will invite to the group for next week.

injustamente y viviendo vidas inmorales.
